Pop icon Anitta found herself at the center of intense speculation this week after reports emerged suggesting she had suffered complications from a cosmetic surgery procedure performed in the United States. According to a column by Brazilian journalist Fábia Oliveira, the singer allegedly underwent a facial lifting treatment that resulted in a serious infection and required intensive post-operative care. The story quickly gained traction, especially amid Anitta’s notable absence from social media platforms.
However, Anitta’s team has officially denied the claims, stating that the singer did undergo an aesthetic procedure, as she often does, but that there were no complications or special medical needs involved. The statement emphasized that Anitta was cleared by her doctors and returned to Brazil within the expected time frame. The infection that led to the cancellation of her recent performance in Campina Grande, according to her press office, was bacterial in nature and unrelated to any surgical procedure.

“There is absolutely no truth to the claim that Anitta went through a botched surgery in the United States,” the statement read. “She underwent a routine aesthetic procedure without any complications and has since been recovering normally.”
In addition to studio work and a new campaign shoot in São Paulo, the singer has remained relatively quiet on social media, which only fueled fan concern in recent days. Her absence had been interpreted by many as a sign that something was wrong, especially after her scheduled show in Campina Grande was canceled.
Facial lifting, or rhytidectomy, is a common cosmetic procedure aimed at reducing signs of aging by tightening facial tissues. While generally safe when performed by licensed professionals, risks such as infections, swelling, and nerve damage can occur — particularly if post-surgery care is neglected. These risks were cited in the original report, but her team insists they do not apply to Anitta’s case.
As of now, Anitta is reportedly receiving treatment for the unrelated bacterial infection and is showing signs of steady improvement. Fans have taken to social media to wish her well, while her team reassures the public that she is on the mend and will be back soon.
She also has just been confirmed for Réveillon Amoré 2026, the renowned New Year’s Eve celebration taking place on the stunning sands of Maracaípe beach, Pernambuco. The festival, scheduled from December 26 to January 1, features a lineup of beach parties and themed events leading up to the grand, all-inclusive New Year’s Eve gala.
