Anitta revealed that she canceled her performance at the biggest São João festival in the world due to a severe bacterial infection, but she’s already undergoing treatment and will be back soon.
“Hello to all my fans. I’m coming here to send you this audio because we had to let you know, right, that unfortunately it won’t happen this time—my first São João show there, my first São João in Campina Grande. Anyway, I don’t even need to say how sad I am, because this has been a challenging year for me in that sense—with commitments, some cancellations… I’m dealing with a severe bacterial infection, a pretty complicated one, that’s been going on for a few days. But I was absolutely sure that by today I’d be fine.
Today, actually, there’s a meeting happening with Minister Sônia, Marina Silva, about the environment here in Rio, and I was absolutely certain I’d be there today for that event, defending the environment. So it’s also frustrating not being able to attend that. And for São João as well—I was sure everything would be okay. But it wasn’t this time.
I’m receiving treatment, getting IV antibiotics. So that’s it. Everything is under control, but the treatment is slow. Still, I know everything’s going to be fine. I know I have your support, and that I’ll be okay. Everything’s already okay—it’s going to be. I’ll be back soon, God willing—back in Campina Grande, singing. That’s it. I’m sure it’s going to happen soon, with all your support, my family’s, my friends’—everyone’s.” said the singer.
